Repatriation in multinational companies: Managing the knowledge and expertise of returnees effectively

This book aims at creating a general awareness for the importance of successful repatriation management for multinational companies. The re-entry of expatriates into their home organization is often seen as the closing moment of an international assignment. However, the repatriation should be seen as a starting point for a new career, since the returnees might have acquired valuable skills abroad. Therefore this book specifically investigates how multinational companies can manage and harness the knowledge and expertise of their repatriates effectively in order to yield a return on this high human capital investment. It combines a survey of current theory with an empirical study of repatriation management in Austrian MNCs operating in the industrial sector.
