The aim is to identify commonly shared discursive resources (shared a patterns of talking). The researcher tries to answer questions such as how the discourse helps us understand the issue under study, how people construct their own version of an event, and how people use discourse to maintain or construct their own identity. The self-identities of two persons, Ali and Sophia, are explored in this study using the method of discourse analysis. The purpose was to understand how these persons construct their self-identities within their domain. These two were interviewed by the researcher and the tape recordings were transcribed for the purposes of analysis. Several themes were identified in the analysis
