Yashada Bhasma (Incinerated Zinc) - A Potent Ayurvedic Antioxidant: An Experimental Study

Ayurveda, the life science is serving mankind since time immemorial with herbal,herbo-mineral, metallic and other such formulations. Rasashastra is a specialized branch of Ayurveda which mainly deals with the medicines prepared out of minerals and metals. Yashada Bhasma is one such metallic preparation which has its indication in Diabetes, Neuro-muscular disorders, degenerative disorders etc. Though Ayurvedic medicines are time tested, many questions are raised regarding their safety and scientific validation. Hence in this regard free radical scavenging activity of Yashada bhasma were screened and the results were encouraging.
