Microwave Sterilization of Non-metal Dental Instruments: Assessment of the use in dentistry

Infection control is one of greatest concerns in the field of dentistry. Contamination of dental instruments will compromise the health of both the patient and dentist; therefore infection control is one of the concerns in this field. The target of every treatment is to control disease and prevent infection transmission. Several diseases can be transmitted from patients to other patients or medical staff unless we have a sufficient and effective infection control program.Use of microwave for sterilization being a time-saving procedure may be beneficial as an adjunct appliance for sterilization. In this study we assess the effects of microwave on Bacillus Stearothermophilus-contaminated non-metal instruments.
