Paint additives

Additives are generally defined as components that are included in a coating formulation in relatively small amount; usually between 0.05 and 5.0% as a processing aid and to control, enhance or impart specific properties. Most of the additives perform a specific function. In recent years multi-purpose additives have been developed which reduce the number of additives used in a formulation. The selection of the right additive that compliments with other ingredients and the optimum quantity that should be incorporated in a formulation requires both theoretical as well practical considerations.
