Führung und Gesundheitsprävention. Maßnahmen zur Belastungsbewältigung von Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern in Hospiz- und Palliativeinrichtungen des Landes Niedersachsen

In view of the fact that the care and nursing of dying persons very often constitutes symptoms of mental overload for society as well as the care giving institutions and their staff, a movement towards hospice and palliative care has been established. Its aim is to include and reintegrate dying into daily life to ensure that the patient can pass away wih dignity. Work in hospice and palliative care shows on one hand the need to give competent medical and nursing attention to the seriously ill and dying in their last stage of life. On the other hand it is just as important to offer basic measures to professionels working in that field on how to cope with their strenuous work over an extended period of time. Within the research project, a survey was conducted by sending questionnaires to the supervisory personnel of each of the hospice and palliative institutions within the German province of Lower Saxony to determine what kind of measures towards prevention of disease and promotion of health are being offered to their staff. The research results clearly show the attitude and approach of supervisory staff towards the care providers as well as preventive measures for coping, influence the well being and health of those working in the field of care provision.
