VALUE OF PROBIOTICS IN THE CONTROL OF HEPATIC ENCEPHALOPATHY

Probiotics are live beneficial microorganisms that are now used in treatment and prophylaxis of many diseases. It can replace harmful gut microbes in cirrhotic patients and lowers the rate of ammonia production and hence reverse the neuro-psychatric syndrome of hepatic encephalopathy. Our study proved efficiency of probiotics to improve early grades of hepatic encephalopathy.In addition,it has the potential to improve hepatic functions as well.
