Description

Impact of insecticide treated nets were studied in the mid 90’ies showing significant reduction of all cause children mortality less than 5 year and on clinically confirmed malaria. Since then, bednet studies focused on vector impact, while technology changed from dipping to long lasting pre-treatment. Preliminary WHO recommendation of LLIN is based on short term studies of vector impact and wash resistance. However, most loss of insecticide is not due to washing Preliminary WHO recommendations of LLIN are based on short term studies on vector impact and wash resistance. However, in Sub-Saharan African settings, loss of insecticide is not primarily due to washing, but to handling and evaporation. Netprotect a second generation LLIN with a preliminary WHO recommendation was evaluated in aspects of malaria vector control, epidemiology and durability. This book is useful to reseachers, policy makers and medical workers in malaria control.
