Noritoshi Hirakawa: Beyond The Sunbeam Through Trees - Works 1998-2012

Gorgeously bound in two volumes one comprising an interview and texts, the other, images and photographic works Beyond the Sunbeam Through Trees explores the career and output of Japanese contemporary artist and filmmaker Noritoshi Hirakawa to the fullest. Working in a variety of media, including photography, performance and installation, Hirakawa consistently challenges mainstream conceptions of sexuality through erotic, voyeuristic and intimate images. Taking on the dominant culture of collective guilt, his work often engages both architecture and semi-nude subjects in its consideration of modern urban life and expressions of desire.
