This unique and rare book gives an account of a number of research methods and practical measures to prevent the flutter of control surfaces on aircraft and winged rockets in the USSR during the 1950's- 1980's.
The book consists of three parts.
Part one shows facts and figures regarding accidents that occurred during flight-tests, caused by flutter of control surfaces as well rational means to prevent this dangerous phenomenon.
In the second part, research methods to establish different modes of flutter are presented whereby the individual mode of vibration is directly linked to the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft and rocket in question.
The third part of the book focuses on theoretical research and experimental studies of control surfaces non-steady aerodynamic data at the different states of flight, especially at the transonic Mach range.
