Description

The author, who is a mathematician that escaped from Romania, has passed about one year and seven months in a political refugee camp in Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara), between 09 September 1988 and 22 Mars 1990, before emigrating to America. This massive book summing 1,045 pages contains 542 holograph letters and drafts written between 15 October 1988 and 22 March 1990. Other 31 letters, mailed between 09 September 14 October 1988, were included in his book Fugit... / jurnal de lagar [Escaped... / diary of the camp], Vols. 1 and 2, 1994 and 1998 (see Zbl 0922.01025 and Zbl 0903.01011). The book starts with a preface called Help me to emigrate! , then a Declaration for Emigration as Political Refugee to USA , followed by photos from the political refugee camp among which at the end is a photo of the reunification of the Smarandache family (Florentin, Mihai older son, Silviu younger son, Eleonora - wife) to the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, on 19 February 1991 (page 42). The book is 98% holographic in order to be more poetical, says the mathematician-poet. The reconstitution of many epistles was difficult since their copies had low resolution. Two mathematical associations (the German Zentralblatt für Mathematik through Dr. Berndt Wegner, and the Spanish Mathematical Association through Prof. Francesco Bellot Rosado) and the French Cultural Institutes from Turkey financially helped him in the political refugee camp.
