STONE CORES - Thermal Bath / Vals - Peter Zumthor

This monographic study on Peter Zumthor’s thermal baths in Vals, Switzerland is unfolded in two levels. The first relates to the decoding and understanding of the architect’s intent, and also to the recognition of the tools to transform this intention into materiality, to quality space, to an atmosphere of grades and ultimately to an intense bodily experience. The second level relates to connotations and interpretations of this project in Vals which inspired me, as a materialized intention of the architect, encouraging me to a temporal and geographical journey where fragments of architecture, art and philosophy are combined through labyrinthine routes.
