Silicon Photonics 2006

In order to develop silicon photonics technology, six main areas need to be investigated: selectively guiding and transporting of the light within silicon; light encoding; detecting, amplification and generation; packaging the devices; and intelligent control of photonic functions. This book collects ten chapters devoted to some main aspects, both theoretical and experimental, of silicon photonics technology.
