Stories of World War II continue to absorb the interest of readers, and there are a great number of books on the subject. Among these, several authors have written on what was one of the bloodiest campaigns fought by the British and their allies[LaTeX Command: index] against the Japanese in Burma between 1942 and 1945. At that time, Goa[LaTeX Command: index], a neutral Portuguese colony in western India, was largely unaffected by the war. In an instant, their comfortable and serene lives were shattered and they were plunged into chaos and fear.
