Reclaiming Beauty: Collected Essays in Political Anthropology

Reclaiming Beauty is a title bringing together authors from a range of fields (architecture, political and social disciplines) each employing their particular view to the role of beauty in social life and in the academy.

The idea for this book was born from the perception that beauty in the contemporary world should not simply based on the pursuit of senses, instead- it is deeply penetrated by rational concerns and forces. Evidence for this is visible in the phenomena of Palaeolithic cave paintings, ancient Greek politics and culture, Renaissance paintings and modern city planning.

This volume is the first volume of the Series on Contemporary Mimetic Revival that explores the central anthropological themes of social life using a cross-disciplinary approach.
