Dao Companion to Daoist Philosophy (Dao Companions to Chinese Philosophy)

This is the first comprehensive companion to the study of Daoism as a philosophical tradition. It will provide both general review and survey of Daoism in various thinkers from 6th century BC to 5th century and latest academic development in the field. It will discuss theoretical and philosophical issues based on rigorous textual and historical investigation and examination, with concerns of both ancient scholarship and modern approaches and methodology. The themes include debates on the origin of the Daoism or the author and dating of the Laozi and the authors and classification of Zhuangzi’s chapters, discussions on systematic analyses of Laozi and Zhuangzi’s thought and philosophical arguments, their transformation and development in Pre-Qin, Han, and Wei-Jin periods, such as Huang-Lao school, Heguanzi, Wenzi, Huainanzi, Wang Bi, Guo Xiang, and Worthies in bamboo grove. Each chapter will be written by experts and specialists in the topic.
