Environmental Impacts of Aquatic Biotechnology (OECD documents)

Modern aquatic biotechnology is a rapidly developing field. It is expected to be of great benefit in commercial aquatic food production, and may also help preserve endangered aquatic species. However, its potential impacts on aquatic ecosystems are far from being fully understood. This publication presents the scientific papers given at the OECD Workshop on Environmental Impacts of Aquaculture. Also included are two expert group reports on modern aquatic biotechnology and its potential environmental impacts. This OECD document will be of special interest to those involved in developing policies aimed at managing aquatic resources sustainably and preserving natural biological diversity.
