Composite Culture under the Sultanate of Delhi

Very little has been written on the cultural orientation of thesultanate of Delhi. The architects of the sultanate introduced anew system of governance with novel social and culturalinstitutions and, Persian as an official language. These moves weresignificant as they served as catalysts for social change. Alongside, the emergence of new urban centres as well as theaddition of colonies of foreign immigrants from lands of moreadvanced culture, to the old towns led to the transfiguration ofculture in the sultanate. Thus, Composite Culture under the Sultanate of Delhi examinesthose aspects of culture that have hitherto not been paid adequateattention.
