The Sahni sisters are strikingly different from each other in every aspect and yet, they end up falling in love with the same man. ‘Let the Rain Kiss You’ is a story of sibling rivalry, the horrifying consequences of parental ambitions, un-nurtured talents, friendship and love. The story opens up with Krishnakant Sahni’s death. As the family and neighbours wait for the heavy rains to subside before taking the body for the last rites, the youngest member of the family, Kittu, takes the readers through the journey of the family that entails three generations of strong willed women. Rain is a metaphor. The family considers it inauspicious. All the undesirable things happen to them during rains, with everyone’s definition of ‘undesirable’ being significantly different from the other.
