The novel that influenced a whole generation. Steppenwolf is one of the greatest novels of the 1946 Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse (1877-1962). It analyzes in a deep approach the subject of the antagonism amid the two natures of an individual, in this case Harry Haller, a man disappointed with life who alternates between what is considered the kind nature of human being with the ferocity that characterizes a savage wolf. The mysticism and fantasy of the book, besides the concepts originating from it, influenced the way of thinking and behaving of youngsters of the fifties, which perceived themselves reflected in Hallerss dual personality.
