This series consists of notebooks with previous research of the authors prior to their participation on the event of the Forum Dialogues, which are closely related to the thematic developed in them, in this case, identity and diversity.

This volume contains works of Victor Zuniga, Carmen Bernand and Serge Gruzinski, Roger Waldinger and Joel Perlmann, Natalio Hernandez, Michel Wieviorka and Nestor Rodriguez, Jorge Durand and Douglas S. Massey.

The topics analyzed here deal with questions as: is it possible to imagine a society multilingual, multireligious, multicultural where idols could be destroyed and not mass baptizes the children of those who are different? How to welcome others without feeling that they are a threat to the life forms that characterize the group itself and how to overcome the myths associated with the racial stratification? Is it possible, desirable, a social, cultural and aesthetic miscegenation?

How to become allies for diversity while we belong to a culturally identified group? How to build an efficient civil society, democratic and based on consensus without requiring those who are different to be erased, barren and their differences denied? How to ensure that violence, which is a supposed monopoly of states legitimately constituted, is serving a morality of diversity and not of intolerance and rivalry between groups? How the boundaries are neither limits nor signs of dominance? What new challenges are facing societies who produce and receive immigrants?
