Carroll Smith (1932-2003) was a successful professional race car driver, engineer, and author. Carroll's books are highly regarded among amateur race drivers and engineers. He was representative of the club racing spirit: learning a craft and bringing together several disciplines in order to participate in a dangerous and often misunderstood sport. His "To Win..." series includes PREPARE TO WIN (1975), TUNE TO WIN (1978), ENGINEER TO WIN (1985), and DRIVE TO WIN (1996).
