A Silence of Desire

A novel by the author of Nectar In A Sieve and Some Inner Fury The story of a few critical months in a hitherto serene marriage, it is set in present day India. Dandekar is a government clerk who lives a comfortable and well ordered life with his wife and children. But when he finds Sarojini not at home to get his dinner on several occasions, his suspicions of her are readily aroused, and they are as good as confirmed by his chace discovery of a strange man's photograph in the family trunk. Shocked and incredulous, Dandekar finds himself caught in the beginnings of a web of concealment which he himself is soon helping to spin.
