Description
Shivabalayogi is one of India's greatest sages of the 20th Century. He attained Self realization through twelve years of meditation in the state of enlightenment, then traveled for three decades throughout India, later in England and the United States. "Tapas Shakti" is the book that Shivabalayogi asked to be published that combines his biography, records of his conversations with devotees, and devotees' experiences. Written by Tom Palotas, it was published in India on the occasion of Shivabalayogi's 59th birthday, on January 24, 1992.
Shivabalayogi described "Tapas Shakti" as a spiritual textbook, like the Bible or the ancient Vedas. There were times when instead of answering devotees' questions, he asked them to read the book instead.
The book is unique in spiritual literature because of its detailed account of a yogi's tapas (meditation in samadhi, enlightenment). The questions and answers range over a broad variety of subjects, including meditation, yogis and spiritual leaders, spiritual trance, Jesus, world affairs, and divine beings.
