This is a The Readers Club omnibus edition of two novels by C. S. Forester: Rifleman Dodd and The Gun-a First American Edition, 1942, first printing, of Rifleman Dodd and a republication of The Gun, which was first published in 1933 by Little, Brown in the US, from The Press of the Readers Club. By C. S. Forester. The book is almost like-new with a small soil spot on the front and otherwise bright boards, with black embossed lettering and design on the front, and embossed red on black spine-lettering, with the dust jacket unclipped ($1.50) and slightly rubbed and color-flecked at the spine ends and outer corners, also several small closed tears at the spine ends and top front edge, also with a dark gray top edge spray. 311 pages. Foreword by Carl Van Doren Also, included with the book is an 8-page, yellowing, issue of News for the Members of the Readers Club, dated 1943, which discusses the next month's book title, Angel Pavement,a novel by J.B. Priestley, including a short laudatory essay by Sinclair Lewis. And finally, there is also a small, yellowing return envelope from the publisher which is basically a bill for the Forester book with a small coin pocket-pouch for the 50 cents.
