European Wireless and Mobile Communications: Country and Operator Profiles - Finland (2004)

This IDC study analyzes the mobile market opportunity in Finland. In addition to identifying the key trends currently shaping the market, the study profiles all the wireless operators.

According to Paolo Pescatore, a senior analyst with IDC's European Wireless and Mobile Communications service, "The Finnish mobile market continues to be dominated by TeliaSonera (the market leader in terms of subscribers), followed by Elisa (formerly known as Radiolinja). The role of service providers and more recently the introduction of MVNOs is increasing. TeliaSonera has launched its own independent service provider, and Tele2 launched services as an MVNO earlier in 2004. Also an important local player, Saunalahti is increasing its presence in the market, having migrated from a service provider to an MVNO, and will start to offer 3G services shortly."
