The writer is greatly indebted to several research students of sea lore for their meticulous inspection of the second edition of this work. The errors that were found have been corrected in this edition. The appendices have been extended to cover wedding ceremonies, toasts, and a recent opinion on the yacht ensign. An up-to-date precedence list of official Washington has been added along with other new material.
