From the supplier: University of Texas at Austin's Project Quest, designed to bring microcomputers deeper into instruction and research across campus, was initiated in Apr 1984 with IBM's donation of support personnel and equipment. In 1985 Apple Computer began a gift program. The project's operating committee funded 342 faculty grant proposals, with 52 percent going to engineering and natural science, 18 percent to liberal arts, and the remaining 30 percent to projects in the 11 other schools and colleges. Some 45.9 percent of the participating faculty met their project objectives and 29.4 percent surpassed them. Effects on research and teaching, student and faculty attitudes toward microcomputers, and microcomputer instructional services on campus were positive. A national database of IBM's Advanced Education Projects was also established which details more than 2100 academic projects on 19 campuses and is available through the national bulletin board ISAAC created and maintained by the University of Washington.
