From the supplier: The inability of insurance agencies to perpetuate themselves poses the greatest threat to the industry today, according to Hales and Assc's Principal Tim Cunningham. Speaking at the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois first annual meeting, Cunningham cited the principals' failure to perpetuate their businesses as a key factor in the 25% drop in agency values. Principals failure to recognize the poor economic conditions of the 1990s and the misinterpretation of values have inhibited perpetuation.
