From the supplier: Frank McGuire, an associate professor at Cleveland Institute of Art, uses the Zenith Data Systems Z-486/25E as a platform for an advanced computer-aided drafting system utilizing three-dimensional graphics. The system is based on repetition and refinement in a manner reminiscent of the cumulative selection principle in genetics. The three components of the system include Asymetrix Toolbook program development software, the Microsoft Windows 3.0 graphical user interface and the DesignCAD 3D program. The design is run through the system, acquiring layers of variation until the desired effect is achieved. Then a translation program flattens out the three-dimensional image and sends it to a plotter, so that it can be transferred to a metal sheet and produced as a sculptured form.
