From the supplier: The Peoria, IL Journal Star is an example of an employee ownership success story. The employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) at the Journal Star has purchased 85% of the paper's stock and will own the rest within 5 years. The ESOP is taking advantage of legislation that encourages this kind of buyout. The paper has also been remarkably successful with a 19.9% profit margin and 85,000 in circulation. Employees attribute this partially to the stake each has in the companies' success.
