From the supplier: Perinatal pathologists can be invaluable to plaintiffs' attorneys in helping determine when a fetus died. Pathologists can help determine the cause and approximate time of death by performing an external examination of the fetus, but examination of the placenta and of fetal organs will yield the most precise information. Histologic abnormalities occurring in both the placenta and in fetal organs after fetal death are the source of this information.
