From the supplier: Computer networks are being used to help school principals and staffs initiate and implement school-based management reforms. A recent survey of all US states shows that 60 percent have a statewide computer or telecommunications network. These networks are used for state reporting, student information systems, electronic mail, financial management systems, electronic bulletin boards, instructional resource data bases, instructional management tools and teacher certification records. Network users include school principals, state departments, business managers, superintendents, teachers, curriculum specialists, librarians, personnel at colleges and universities, researchers and school board members. Most of these networks link to other networks. Existing technology can revitalize curriculums and improve individual and class instruction. The methods to achieve optimum benefits from a network include establishing a shared vision of what should be realized from networking; integrating technology with existing priorities and building and using public and/or private partnerships.
