From the supplier: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, attacks the neurons in the brain and spinal cord, which may eventually lead to the malfunctioning of the muscles. Its cause is still unknown. ALS researchers plan to test a drug called ciliary neutrotrophic factor on several ALS patients. The test is being sponsored by the New York-based Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. Although the test is not yet approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, the fact that a major drug company has invested on the search for the cure of ALS, is encouraging enough for ALS patients.
