From the supplier: The role of corporate boards in the formulation of strategies is examined. Aside from its traditional role of providing monitoring management, boards have been found to occupy a new strategic identity equal to the role of management and shareholders. Boards can justify their role in strategy formulation by meeting the interests of the organization as a distinct entity separate from its constituents, including stockholders whom corporate boards normally share a conflict of interest with.
