From the supplier: Kingdon's model of agenda setting and Stone's notion of causal stories are used to analyze how public opinion against radon and asbestos was translated into legislative action. It is shown that scientific findings about the health risks posed by radon and asbestos were inadequate by themselves to be considered for the congressional agenda and media pressure was a more influential factor. In addition, different views within the policy and political streams determined the speed by which the issues were calendared on the congressional agenda.
