From the supplier: An analysis of the salient features of companies which were either nominated for or winners of the Malcolm Baldrige Award for outstanding quality management is conducted. This analysis, which can be used as a guide by those firms which are concerned about quality and are looking for ways to enhance it, focused on the four areas of operating measures, employee relations, customer satisfaction and financial performance. Results reveal that those companies which have incorporated total quality management practices in their operations posted an improvement in their business performance. Most of these firms experienced higher average market share, enhanced product reliability, shorter order processing time and less customer complaints. The Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award is awarded by the US government to businesses in the manufacturing, services and small businesses sectors that have demonstrated excellence in quality attainment and management.
