From the supplier: The 'sales culture' concept has become the latest buzzword in bank management circles. The concept refers to the development of an environment that focuses upon the sale of bank services and products, with most employees expected to dedicate their time principally to selling of fee-generating investment products and services. In such an environment, employees are evaluated in terms of their sales performance and provided with bonuses if they meet sales targets. Not surprisingly, many banking publications are devoting much space to discussions of this 'sales culture' concept, given its growing appeal in a time characterized by market share battles among banking groups. Recent reports compiled by the Bank Marketing Assn's Information Center include reports on this subject culled from the 'Tennessee Banker,' the 'Profitable Banker,' and the 'Bank Personnel Report.'
