From the supplier: The US government was discovered to have allowed the patenting of a cell line derived from the human tissue. The cell line was cultured from a cell sample of a woman of the Guaymi tribe in Panama. Panamanian representatives lobbied for the withdrawal of the license which would have allowed researchers to patent products developed from the cell line without having to pay royalties to the Guaymis. The US and other governments have no restrictions against issuing patents for materials developed from human cells.
