From the supplier: A study was done on contests with two asymmetric players in the simultaneous-move framework and in the endogenous-timing framework. The focus was on the effort that the players had expended. The model that has been developed may be used in several specific applications such as rent-seeking contests and research and development competitions. The effort expended by players in rent-seeking contests is interpreted as social costs.
