The discovery of a Central Asian fragment of an unrevised text written in Sanskrit is therefore significant as it could herald a breakthrough in the study of ancient Buddhist manuscripts. The Central Asian fragment comes from the Manuscript Archive of the Institute of Oriental Studies in St. Petersburg, Russia.
