From the supplier: British poet Seamus Heaney weaves words and phrases into inventive patterns of thought that makes him a signicant communicator of the role of a poet in the sociopolitical sphere where such ugly realities as oppression exists. Heaney hails from Northern Ireland where the bitter struggle between the Catholic Irish and British authorities remains unresolved. The poet does not take sides on religious terms and although he shows traces of nationalism, he criticizes both sides for their failings.
