From the supplier: Multivariate discriminant analysis and binary response regression models, which are commonly used to study insurer insolvencies, are flawed because they classify companies into fixed categories of solvent and insolvent companies. A dynamic statistical method called event history analysis was developed and tested by analyzing life and property-liability insurer insolvencies from 1984 to 1990. The results showed that the use of event history analysis enables the identification of statistically significant factors that lead to insurer insolvency.
