From the supplier: Research shows that the use of precipitated silica in tire formulations provides improved resistance to ozone damage, tearing and cuts. Experiments using various carbon black types and different proportions of precipitated silica in sidewall compounds were performed. Other variables were the ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer used and the employment of phase mixing. The three cure systems used were sulfur vulcanization, peroxide cure and a mix of the two. Results of the research are discussed and illustrated in graphic and tabular form.
