From the supplier: The concepts of self-reflexivity and critical realism are analyzed within the context of institutional economics. These concepts are important because of the divergence between natural and social processes. In the natural sciences, research studies do not undermine or cause changes in causal processes. In the social sciences, however, human behavior is part of a self-reflexive process within the cultural environment of knowledge. The concept of critical realism posits that there is a reality separate from perception.
