From the supplier: Network executives believe the quality of television newswriting is not up to par. Many on-air reporters and anchors do not know the fundamentals of writing, are sloppy, or do not feel that writing well is important. Some reporters do not have the common sense and general knowledge which underlies good writing. A difficulty in newsrooms is that TV writers are not given enough time to concentrate and think about stories they are writing. News directors appear not to be addressing the problem.
