From the supplier: The Massachusetts General Court passed a bill banning 'gag clauses' in contracts between health maintenance organizations and other managed healthcare providers and their physicians. Health insurance companies also are covered by the law. Gag clauses prevent physicians from recommending treatment not covered by their managed care plan or from providing referrals for specialists outside the plan. Health insurers also are prohibited from accessing the records of mental health patients in the early term of their treatment.
