From the supplier: Interactive multimedia (IMM) promises much, but even though educators generally acknowledge the need for such technology, its value has not yet been proven. IMM typically uses telephony, TV and networking, as well as display and projection systems. The 'interactive' component means a system responds to signals from a user, and 'multimedia' refers to presentations that can include text, graphics, sound animation and motion video. Multimedia-enabled resources are increasingly available, and publishers are producing more and better-quality IMM materials, but if costs do not come down, use of multimedia for education will not be taken seriously.
