From the supplier: The proliferation of interactive voice response (IVR) applications and advances in computer telephony integration (CTI) have important implications for educators. New technologies are bringing sophisticated technologies that were previously unaffordable into the reach of virtually anyone with a PC and access to a plain old telephone service (POTS) line. Typical IVR features currently available include voicemail boxes; message storage and retrieval; homework hotlines; and automated attendant; or answering and transferring of calls. Several products are described. Concerning CTI, companies are starting to bundle voice processing/fax/modem cards. For example, AlgoRhythms Inc's PhoneKITS provides users with voicemail, PC phone, answering machine and fax functions.
