From the supplier: Vehicle manufacturers measure tire rolling resistance as a function of inflation and load to be able to determine the dynamometer absorbed power for vehicle/tire/weight combinations. The SAE J1269 rolling resistance measurement procedure uses a four point test matrix to measure tire pressure and load at 80 km/hr. A five parameter model that uses an eight point test matrix to predict a tire steady-state rolling resistance by taking into account a range of speed, load and pressure is discussed.
